Free Zones grows 2.5% in the first two months of 2021

During the first two months of 2021, the free zone sector grew 2.5% compared to the same period in 2020, going from exporting US $ 964.56 million to US $ 988.59 million. The information was offered by the executive director of the National Free Zones Council (CNZFE), Daniel Liranzo, who highlighted the capacity of the sector to overcome great challenges and continue as a generator of export and formal jobs.

According to Liranzo, during the month of January of this year, the value exported by the free zones amounted to US$ 445.02 million, while in February of this year the value added was US$ 543.53, representing a growth of 22.14%.

Liranzo indicated that the growth experienced by the free zones during the month of February of this year compared to the previous month, was led by medical devices, which exported US $ 153.1 million, representing an increase of US$ 40.2 million (35.6%) ; in addition to Tobacco and its manufactures, which exported US$ 96.4 million for an increase of US $ 18.1 million (23.2%).
