The Dominican Republic has much interest in becoming a production nest. To achieve this, it will have to embrace nearshoring, a mechanism used by some companies to transfer business processes in distant destinations, in order to reduce costs. This, in line with what has been learned by the large factories in full coronavirus pandemic: the entire supply chain cannot be concentrated on one place, since any inconvenient would stop all production processes.
